Platform Update: RSS Feeds
We’ve got a nice little addition to our platform that we think you’ll appreciate: RSS Feeds.
Some of you know what RSS is, others may not; RSS, short for RDF Site Summary (and commonly called “Really Simple Syndication”), allows people to subscribe to “feeds” and receive updates whenever they’re made to a particular site. It works in a twofold fashion; if a patron subscribes to a particular keyword or organization (say, “Philadelphia”, or “TicketLeap Parties”) with their e-mail or an RSS reader, they’ll get regular updates about upcoming events. Some sites also pull from RSS feeds for content, which, by linking to your events, increases the Search Engine Optimization for those events.
To view the RSS feed, open your RSS Reader (we’ve used Google Reader for demonstration purposes) and click “Add A Subscription”. Put in the address of your RSS-enabled site – like your TicketLeap subdomain (ex. TLParties.TicketLeap.com), click “Add”, and the new feed will automatically populate the reader. In doing this, subscribers will receive an instant notification by RSS whenever a new event is posted.
Let us know what you think of adding RSS feeds below – how are you going to use them, and how do you think they’ll benefit you?
